So this week marked my first ever live stream of an event on campus. I have to say that it was almost ridiculously simple. Well, a lot of things had to come together but the software bit was pretty straightforward. We used QuickTime Broadcaster.

So some back story for those interested. At WVU we have a new president starting. In order to learn more about the University he’s holding open forums. We did a nice site about the transition. He also has a blog. We decided we’d cover the event live but my initial concept was more of a live blogging event. Testing the night before I realized there was no way it would work the way I wanted so, scrambling a bit, we pulled together a live broadcast of the event instead. Definitely a step up from what I wanted to do originally

We obviously ended up still live blogging but there wasn’t as much pressure on us. I think overall it turned out really well and everyone here is pretty ecstatic about it. We may even take the show on the road…
